The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has scheduled dates for the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the general election that would take place next year.
Festus Okoye, the National Commissioner for Information and Voter Education at INEC, said in a statement that the Commission met on December 1, 2022, and reviewed a variety of subjects, including the schedule for collecting Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) around the nation.
The Commission hosted a retreat from November 28 to December 2, 2022, in Lagos for all of the Administrative Secretaries and Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) from the 36 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
“Consequently, the Commission has fixed Monday 12 December 2022 to Sunday 22 January 2023 as the dates for the collection of PVCs in all the 774 Local Government Offices of the Commission throughout the Federation”, he stated.
More importantly, the Commission has decided to delegate PVC collection to the 8,809 Registration Areas/Wards from January 6 through 15, 2023.
