‘I Was Very Happy To See My Brother’– Ramaphosa Appreciates Tinubu For Gracing His Inauguration
Newly inaugurated South Africa President, Cyril Ramaphosa has expressed his gratitude to Nigeria president, Bola Ahmed-Tinubu for attending his event.
Recall, Ramaphosa was re-elected into office for a second term on Friday, June 14, 2024, following an agreement for a Government of National Unity between the African National Congress (ANC) and the Democratic Alliance.
His inauguration was witnessed by Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu and former President Olusegun Obasanjo among dignitaries from all over Africa and the world
Earlier, President Bola Tinubu was rumoured to have been disgraced and snubbed by President Cyril Ramaphosa while greeting his guests as seen in a viral video.
But in an updated report, it was believed that President Tinubu held a private meeting with Ramphosa
at the Radisson Blu Hotel on Thursday in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Ramaphosa, before the closed meeting, thanked President Tinubu for honouring the invitation to attend his inauguration for a second term in office.
He said, “Thank you so much for coming for the inauguration. I was very happy to see my brother at the ceremony,”.
In return, Tinubu acknowledged his gesture and appreciated his speech which according to him captured most of the challenges faced by African countries and the need for more collaboration among leaders and citizens to provide solutions
President Tinubu stated, “I really enjoyed your speech at the ceremony. I was delighted to listen to you. We have lots of issues in common, and we need to work more closely together. It was a good celebration,” the President stated.
Tinubu who embarked on the journey to South Africa on Tuesday, to attend the inauguration of the South African President is expected back in the country today.
