“His death hit us hard”-Osun TAMPAN Reacts to Nollywood Actor, Murphy Afolabi’s Death

The Theatre Art and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria, Osun State chapter, has shown a shocking reaction to the sudden demise of Maroof Afolabi-a Yoruba Nollywood actor, known as Murphy.

Murphy died in the early hours of Sunday, in a bathroom.

Osun TAMPAN, on Sunday, stated that members of the group initially doubted the news of Afolabi’s death as the news hit them hard.

“He was one of our biggest Nollywood stars from Osun here. His death hit us hard. It shocked all of us, his kinsmen from Osun, his state of origin.

Speaking on the burial rites of the Osogbo-born actor with Punch Newspaper, Osun TAMPAN secretary, Adedayo Adeyemi, said a decision on the burial would be announced by the deceased family; noting TAMPAN members have been directed to assemble in Osogbo on Monday for further briefing.

“Members of TAMPAN from Osun did not believe the news. We initially doubted it, until it was confirmed by Murphy’s younger brother living with him in Lagos.” He said.

Maroof Afolabi aka Murphy hailed from Fetuata’s compound in Osogbo.
