‘Her Legacy In Broadcast Journalism Lives On’- President Tinubu Mourns Death of Ace NTA Broadcaster, Aisha Bello
Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed-Tinubu has mourned the death of a renowned broadcaster
with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Aisha Bello.
Aisha Bello who was popular on the Network News at 9 pm, passed on in the early hours of Monday, December 11.
Reacting to her demise, President Tinubu in a statement by his Special Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, said the death of Aisha Bello was a great loss to the country.
According to him, Bello was a mentor who inspired many young women who took to broadcasting with ‘eloquence, passion, and integrity on the screen and off-screen.
The statement read in part: “During her time as the presenter of the flagship ‘NTA Network News at 9’, Nigerians and viewers around the world looked forward to seeing her smile, warmth, and wisdom as she delivered news that can be trusted objectively.
“She mentored many young women who took to broadcasting, mainly by watching and listening to her eloquence, passion, and integrity on the screen, in the newsroom, and off the screen.
“Her legacy in broadcast journalism lives on in the rich news archives she leaves behind and the contributions she made to the development of broadcasting in Nigeria. She brought news to life and will continue to be a beacon to inspire generations in the beautiful art of broadcasting,” the president stated.
President Tinubu prayed to God to grant the soul of the departed eternal rest and comfort her loved ones.
The news of her demise was announced in a statement released by her family.
The statement reads: “Innalilahi wa inna Alaihin Rajiun. May Allah forgive Hajia Aishat Bello Mustapha, our mother. You really are a very kind person, Mama, indeed, you are a very kind-hearted person. We will miss you and hope you are enjoying Rahma.”
Bello was a former General Manager of NTA Parliament and a prominent newscaster on NTA Network between the 90s and 20s. She retired in 2022.
Her funeral reportedly took place at 1 pm on Monday, 11th December 2023 at the Central Mosque in Abuja.
