Heavy Downpour: Lagos Govt Postpones Planned Repairs of Third Mainland Bridge
Due to heavy rainfall in different parts of Lagos, the State government has postponed the repairs of failed sections of the Third Mainland Bridge.
On Friday, the government announced the commencement of the repairs which were to begin on Sunday, September 17 between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and also the following Sunday, September 24.
But a release signed by the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi on Saturday, revealed that the postponement is “due to the heavy downpour experienced in all parts of the metropolis today.”
Lagos communities accuse Chinese firm of road blockade. He explained that the rain has affected the preliminaries of the planned palliative works on the asphalt pavement of the bridge by the Lagos State Public Works Corporation.
Osiyemi, however, gave assurance of a later date to commence the work thereby, urging motorists to keep accessing the bridge with observance of safety measures.
