Gov. Akeredolu Travels Abroad to Address Health Issues, Transfers Power
Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has traveled abroad on a 21-day medical leave and transmitted power to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
According to a letter addressed to the House of Assembly, Governor Akeredolu said his deputy, Aiyedatiwa would function in an acting capacity in the meantime.
Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, who received the copy of the letter, revealed that Akeredolu shall resume his duties on July 6, 2023, while wishing him a quick recovery and a joyful vacation.
He said, “The leave which commenced on the 7th of June, extends to the 6th of July, 2023 due to the Public Holidays on June 12 (Democracy Day) and Eid el Kabir (28th and 29th, June, 2023).
“The Governor, who had directed his Deputy, Hon.Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to act as the Governor while away, has assured of his resumption on the 6th of July, 2023.”
However, many critics have
attributed the governor’s continuous absence from his office as well as public functions to an undisclosed ailment, but his aides had insisted otherwise.
The state government is yet to disclose the nature of Mr. Akeredolu’s ailment and where specifically he will seek treatment abroad.
