Funfair Stampede: Ibadan Court Remands Ex-Queen, School Principal, Others In Prison

News reaching The Pendulum Media has it that a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, has ordered the remand of the convener of the children funfair that happened in Ibadan which claimed 35 lives.

The court was presided over by Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi on Tuesday.

According to Daily Post, Naomi Silekunola, the estranged wife of the Ooni of Ile Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, the proprietor of Agidigbo FM, and Mr. Abdullahi Fasasi, the principal of Islamic High School, Bashorun Ibadan have been remanded at Agodi Correctional Center.

They was arrested by the State Police in connection with the recent stampede that occurred at the school.

The suspects were arraigned amidst heavy security.

Our correspondent also reports that the premises of the court were filled with relatives of the defendants and other interested parties.

The defendants were charged with four counts.

The police prosecutor argued that the offence committed by the defendants was contrary to Section 324 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.

The judge, however, ordered that the suspects be kept at Agodi Correctional Center pending advice from the state prosecutor.
