Former US First Lady, Rosalynn Carter, Dies at Age 96

Wife of former President Jimmy Carter, Rosalynn, a former US First Lady has passed away, age 96 at her home in Georgia.

Speaking on her demise, the Carter Center, a human rights nonprofit organization founded by Carter and her husband, former President Carter, on Sunday said that the former first lady passed away just after 2 p.m. Sunday at her home in Plains, Ga. Carter, 96, just entered hospice care two days ago.

The Carter Center said, “Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, a passionate champion of mental health, caregiving, and women’s rights, passed away Sunday, Nov. 19, at 2:10 p.m. at her home in Plains, Georgia, at the age of 96. She died peacefully, with family by her side,” the Carter Center said.

Carter was best known for her work post-White House, as she and her husband championed human rights, democracy and health issues around the world — all while maintaining a notably humble public image.
