Finishing Strong
As I sat on one of the pavements that lined the environment of the greatest hail on O.A.U campus the Amphitheatre, Ile- Ife, Osun State. All I see are clusters of people around adorned with different attires in English, Yoruba, Hausa, even Indian costumes. Obviously, they are parents, guardians, family, friends and all.
Alas! It’s an induction going on, inducting new students into the medical profession as young doctors. After a period of 6 years, they have spent in school. No wonder, they all look incredibly happy as they respond to congratulatory greetings from well-wishers.
“The ladder of success is not easy to climb, as it requires lots of struggles and a resilient spirit”, says one of the inductees by the name Adedapo Oni, as he gave us in brief, the main challenge of medical school. He recounts that a student in the medical line has to read well to understand and most times, the doctors’ training pushes them to work harder.
Balancing academics with social life and spiritual (God), is important for every medical student.
