FG Lauds Super Eagles Over Victory Against South Africa

The Federal Government has joined Nigerians to hail the Super Eagles over their success against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana at the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 semi-final on Wednesday.

Recall, Kelechi Iheanacho scored the winning penalty to give Nigeria a 4-2 penalty shootout victory.

Reacting, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, at the end of the match described the Super Eagles’ victory as resounding.

Idris’s statement as quoted by the minister’s media aide, Rabiu Ibrahim reads;

“The entire nation rallies behind the Super Eagles as they prepare to make history and write their names in gold African and global football,”

He, however, urged Nigerians to keep supporting the National team as they soar forward to win the AFCON trophy.

Following today’s victory, the Super Eagles will face hosts Ivory Coast or the Democratic Republic of Congo, in the final on Sunday.
