FCT Fire Service and Security Agency Collaborate to End Hoodlums Attack on Staff
The Spokesperson of the Federal Capital Territory Fire Service (FCT-Fire), Mr. Ibrahim Tauheed disclosed on Monday to Newsmen in Abuja that the service is jointly working with security agencies to guarantee the safety of its workers.
Mr. Tauheed noted that hoodlums are known for attacking firefighters and looting property anytime there are emergencies, hence the need to address the situation.
He said to avoid the attacks on emergency responders,
they were also engaging communities to create awareness about the importance of their mission.
Tauheed said, “To discourage hoodlums from interfering with our fire-fighting operations, we are considering increasing community engagements through outreach programmes to raise awareness about the importance of our work.
“Collaborating with local authorities and community leaders, including district heads and chiefs, will go a long way in addressing the ugly trend,”.
The spokesman, also recalled an experience the emergency responders had at a Samsung warehouse where hoodlums attacked them, thereby stating that they would continue to cooperate with law enforcement authorities to provide backup during such emergencies and dissuade the hoodlums from attacking firefighters and looting property.
“The recent Samsung warehouse fire experience was an excellent example where hoodlums and other miscreants in their large numbers attacked our personnel to pave the way for their nefarious activities.
“The collaboration with security agencies and community leaders will therefore create the much-needed safer environment for our personnel to work with,” Tauheed added.
