Police Lock Down Ekiti State Assembly
Police officers in their numbers took position in strategic places in the Ekiti State House of Assembly on Wednesday to prevent a breakdown of law and order
Reports have it that there is a rumour of a planned invasion by some people which calls for a complete shutdown of the house.
Staff of the Assembly were also seen trooping out of their offices to their respective homes.
Moreover, some of the workers who prefer to be anonymous in an interview explained to the press that there was an order from the State Police Headquarters that workers should vacate the assembly in the interest of peace, saying some people were planning to attack the House of Assembly.
A phone call with the speaker of the Assembly, Chief Gboyega Aribisogan revealed that the assembly was taken over to prevent a crisis based on an intelligence report from the police, he said normalcy would soon return to the house.
He, however, mentioned that there would be a meeting later in the day with the commissioner of police to know the next line of action.
Recall that chief Gboyega Aribisogan was elected as the new speaker of the assembly yesterday after defeating Mrs. Olubunmi Adelugba from Emure Ekiti.
