ECOWAS Leaders Converge in Abuja for Emergency Meeting Over Niger Coup
Leaders of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) have gathered in Abuja, the nation’s capital to deliberate on the next line of action regarding the coup in the Republic of Niger.
Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government,
President Tinubu is expected to preside over the meeting at the Presidential Villa.
Authority of Heads of State and Government who are currently at the villa are, the transitional President of Tchad, Gen Mahamat Kaka, President. Umaro Mokhtar Sissoco of Guinea-Bissau and Togo.
Also, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé Eyadéma and President Alassane Ouattara of Côte d’Ivoire, President Macky Sall of Senegal, President Patrice Talon of Benin Republic, President Nana Akofo-Ado of Ghana and President Adama Barrow of The Gambia, among others.
Recall before the successful coup in Republic of Niger, President Tinubu had warned that ECOWAS would not accept coups in the continent.
