Distinguish Yourselves – HoS Yemi-Esan Charges Newly-Appointed Permanent Secretaries
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoSF), Folasade Yemi-Esan, has urged the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries to distinguish themselves from transactional to transformational Permanent Secretaries.
Speaking at a two-day Retreat on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, in Abuja, the HoSF ordered them to take ownership of all the reform programmes initiated by the OHCSF, as well as drive the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Yemi- Esan insisted that it is important to work well to elevate the Service, and also show the political class that the Service can achieve results.
She also advised them not to disappoint the political leadership that gave them the opportunity, as well as the Service.
While affirming that as good administrators, personal decisions must respect public feelings, she stated that it is important for them to drop their ambitions and align with the priorities of the Tinubu-led administration.
The newly- appointed permanent secretaries were also reminded to identify and deal promptly with all identified obstacles without unnecessary excuses as they ensure to work harmoniously with their Ministers and all stakeholders.
She said, “This will distinguish you from being transactional Permanent Secretaries to transformational. You must do whatever it takes to remove all obstacles,”.
Welcoming the new Permanent Secretaries, the Permanent Secretary, Career Management Office, OHCSF, Dr. (Engr.) Marcus Ogunbiyi reiterated that the retreat was to acquaint them with the Presidential Mandates; expose them to their duties; strengthen their performance to be able to work as Permanent Secretaries and share knowledge with experienced Permanent Secretaries, some of whom were commissioned to be the Resource Persons.
The newly appointed were taken through a series of lectures and case studies that will help enhance their performance in their various schedules. It was interactive with ample room for comments, questions, and knowledge sharing.
