BREAKING: Supreme Court Okays Old, New Naira Notes as Legal Tender Till Further Notice
The Supreme Court on Wednesday extended the lifespan of the use of both old and new naira notes as legal tender.
In March 2023, the old naira notes were to phase out by December 31, 2023, but the federal government on the 21st of November, filed an application before the Supreme Court seeking an extension for old Naira notes to remain in circulation.
Consequent to this, the apex court, however, ruled that both notes would remain in use until the Federal Government puts a process in place for its replacement or redesign after due consultation with relevant stakeholders.
