BREAKING: Bola Tinubu Wins 2023 Election, Stands as Nigeria’s Next President
Two term governor of Lagos state, Bola Tinubu has been declared the winner of the keenly contested presidential election held across Nigeria on Saturday, 25th February, 2023
He was declared the winner at about ten minutes past four o’clock on Wednesday morning by the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu.
INEC chairman, Yakubu said Asiwaju Tinubu and his party, The All Progressives Congress, APC won the election with a total vote of 8,794,726 (eight million, ninety-four red and ninety-four, seven hundred and twenty-six) defeating his closest rival, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP who polled 6,984,520 and Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party garnered 6,101,553 votes.
Professor Yakubu noted that the number of total votes casts stood at 24,965,218 and according to the results as announced, Tinubu and former vice president Alhaji Abubakar won twelve states each, while Mr Peter Obi won eleven states and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP won one state which is Kano state.
The INEC chairman, Professor Yakubu announced that the certificate of return is to be handed over to the President-Elect by 3:00 on Wednesday at the National Collation Centre in Abuja as Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is expected to address Nigerians anytime soon.
