Block Off-Season Elections- Jonathan Urges N’Assembly

The former president told newsmen on Saturday after casting his vote in the ongoing governorship election in Otuoke, Bayelsa State.

Jonathan expressed worry that if nothing is done to stop the off-season elections in Nigeria, as contained in the nation’s constitution, a time may come when the presidential election would be off-season

“I get worried about off-season elections. I am appealing to the National Assembly that we need to block these off-season elections.

“This is not the global best practice. If we continue with these off-season elections, because of our law, it will come to a time when even a presidential election will be off-season”. He said.
