Army Seeks Support On Provision Of Potable Water In Odogbo

The 42 Engineer Brigade, Letmuck Barracks of the Nigerian Army, Ibadan, has solicited the support of Oyo state Water Corporation on provision of potable water with the barracks community.

The Commander, 42 Engineer Brigade, Brigadier General S.O.J. Aremu made the appeal on Friday during a courtesy visit to the Corporation.

Brig.Gen. Aremu said that the efforts of the State government in reactivating and rehabilitation of the water reservoir at Letmuck Barracks is commendable.

He posited that the Corporation is a partner in progress of the Nigerian Army in as much as water is life.

“The Oyo State Water Corporation is one of the major stakeholders helping the Nigerian Army in achieving the primary responsibility to make army live, fight and move” the Army General said.

Brig.Gen. Aremu said the Army is seeking collaboration with the Oyo State Water Corporation on how to get water to Odogbo Barracks, enhance provision of potable water to Letmuck Barracks community as well as provide water to the new facilities of the Nigerian Army at Agodi.

Responding, the Chairman, Oyo State Water Cooperation, Mr. Elias Adeojo said the Agency has made provision of potable water to residents of the State a priority despite the limited resources at its disposal.

Adeojo said Governor Seyi Makinde has given his approval for rehabilitation of water equipment of the Corporation to meet the yearnings of residents of the State on provision of potable water.
