Amotekun Apprehends Syndicate Terrorizing Three Southwest States
Ondo State Security network popularly known as Amotekun Corps has arrested a specialised syndicate known for
allegedly snatching and dismantling motorbikes in some states in the Southwest region.
According to the Amotekun Corps Commander, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, the syndicate usually operates within Ondo, Osun, and Ogun states where he snatched motorcycles (okada) from owners at gunpoint and took them to its hideout around Iwaraja on Ilesa-Akure highway where the Okadas were dismantled before selling them.
Parading the syndicate alongside other suspects in Akure, Adeleye disclosed that a member of the syndicate, Olamide Wasiu aged 35, from Osogbo, Osun State, had confessed to the crime while others are still on the run.
Chief Adeleye also noted that another four-man armed robbery and kidnap syndicate was arrested by the Amotekun officers.
He said the crime rate in Ondo State has dropped drastically in the last three months, commending stakeholders, especially the media for supporting the security network in fighting crimes.
