AFCON: ‘Imagine Fielding A Goalkeeper From The 80s Because It Is His Turn’– Aisha Yesufu Throws Shades At Nigerians

Popular social critic and human rights activist, Aisha Yesufu, on Thursday asked Nigerians to take a cue from football and apply it to electoral processes.

Yesufu took to her official X handle
to affirm that religious and tribal sentiments don’t give positive results, thereby urging Nigerians to make use of ‘football sense’ during election.

Her statement followed the resounding victory of the Super Eagles over the South Africa national team, Bafana Bafana, in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nation in Ivory Coast, Wednesday evening.

She noted that it could have been a different story if a goalkeeper from the 80s had fielded in place of Stanley Nwabali, the current Eagles goalkeeper.

She wrote, “Imagine instead of fielding Stanley Nwabali we decided to field a goalkeeper from the 80s because it is his turn.

“Make we dey use football sense during election.

“Religious and tribal sentiments don’t give you positive results,”.
