Abducted Victim, Saidu Rescued, Suspects Nabbed in Kwara -Police

The Kwara State Police Command in a statement has disclosed the abduction of a certain man, Sule Saidu by armed assailants at Ahuro Fulani Camp in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state and his eventual release.

Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the Police Public Relations Officer confirmed the development in a statement highlighting the swift response of security operatives.

The Police Spokesperson added that the rescue operation also led to the arrest of two key suspects and the recovery of firearms.

In the statement, Adeyemi explained that, the said victim, Saidu was kidnapped by five gunmen at about 11 p.m. on Friday.

Upon receiving intelligence on the incident the following morning, a joint security team comprising police detectives, local hunters, and vigilantes launched a rescue mission.

The statement read, “The gang was intercepted along the Babanla/Oreke area, where they engaged operatives in a gun duel.

“One abductor was neutralized, while two suspects—identified as 40-year-old Ibrahim Shehu and 25-year-old Mohammad Lawal—were arrested.

“The remaining two kidnappers managed to escape with gunshot wounds,”.

Security forces recovered an AK-47 rifle and criminal charms from the suspects. However, the two arrested men succumbed to their injuries while being transported to the hospital.

Commending the efforts of the operatives, the Kwara State Police Command acknowledged the role of local hunters and vigilantes in the operation, emphasizing their contribution to community safety.

The Commissioner of Police urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
