2023 Elections: Accord Party Receives New Defectors from PDP
In Saki-West local government, Oyo State, a number of the PDP’s ward chairmen and thousands of their supporters have defected to the Hon. Shina Peller’s political party, Accord.
This occurred on Friday in Saki when the ward chairmen officially announced their defection from the PDP to Accord under the leadership of Honourable Abdulsalam Rafiu Arikewusope.
According to Honourable Arikewusobe who also served as the PDP chairman of each of the eleven ward chairmen in the local government noted that the choice of the new defectors was influenced by the aspirations, desires, and interests of the majority in Oke-Ogun.
He claimed that they are all in agreement that Honourable Peller’s liberation mission is just, and that Accord is the only strong political force to be reckoned with, not just in the Oyo North Senatorial District.
Hon. Arikewusope added that they consider Hon. Peller as a young, active, fearless, grassroots-focused politician who supports a bottom-to-top method of governance.
He said that if elected as their senator in 2023, they are convinced that Honorable Peller will step up efforts to close the gap between the government and the general populace.
The chairman of Accord in Oyo State, Prince Felix Kolade Ojo, welcomed the new members and thanked them for their faith in Accord as a party that can further the liberation goal.
He continued by saying that Accord is a party that values internal democracy and that all of its members, regardless of their racial or religious identity, always experience a sense of belonging.
In his response, the Accord candidate for the Oyo North Senatorial District praised Hon. Arikewusope and others for their brave decision, calling it a very courageous step motivated by the desire to develop the Oke-Ogun region to reassure the new members that they made the right choice.
Hon. Peller expressed his confidence that Accord will win the upcoming general election in 2023, particularly in Oyo North and consequently Oyo State as a whole.
